Benjamin D. Arem is admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Maryland Municipal League. He is also a commissioned Notary Public for the State of MD.
Arem is an experienced land use and property dispute attorney, representing individuals, civic and homeowners associations, businesses, and non-profits in a wide variety of matters before the Montgomery County Circuit Court, Board of Appeals, Office of Zoning and Administrative Hearings, and Planning Board. He is also accomplished in resolving private disputes without the need for contentious administrative or civil litigation through the drafting and negotiation of contracts and settlement agreements. In addition, Arem also serves as a municipal attorney, representing both residents and Town Councils. These services encompass contracts, local regulatory violations, property damage, local and State permits and licenses, and other such civil and administrative matters.
Arem graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law with an awarded certification in Business Law and Employment Law. While in law school, he interned with a private practice employment and labor law firm assisting with litigation in the Montgomery County and Charles County Circuit Courts. Arem also interned for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Baltimore, MD, working directly under the array of administrative law judges in analyzing, deciding, and hearing employment law claims. Notably, Arem was also published for a novel approach to religious discrimination in the workplace under Title VII.
Prior to attending law school – after graduating from Muhlenberg College with a B.A., double-major, with honors, in Philosophy and Religion Studies – Arem worked as an accountant performing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, and HR for both corporate and a non-profit entities. He gained extensive experience in general finance principles and practices, allowing him to bring a unique background of understanding to your personal and business needs.
